This edible, perennial plant, is a delight to have around. The leaves form in clusters of three in a delicate and flighty way. Often the soaring leaves make shapes resembling hearts, hence the common name, “Love Plant”. To me, they also resemble Birds in flight, which I have always been drawn to. This plant tends to be one of my favorites to bring into my home space. They are relatively easy to care for, but no need to worry too much, cause this plant can revive itself from the dead! If the conditions are not enjoyable for this Shamrock, then the life above ground, retreats into the bulbs. There in the bulbs life is stored in dormancy, it will be restored to life pretty fast when conditions improve. How cool are plants!! They are always teaching and sharing with us ways to Adapt and Accept the present conditions!!
Though I have thrown some of these leaves into my salad with success, I have not found a way to make successful paint out of this plant, but I did paint it with my Aronia berry Ink, and I think it is a very accurate shade/hue of purple! I Still find it satisfying to make paint from organic matter, then make images out of it. My work contains a story of more than the image, which rings true for me, and I hope others.
